Abstract
The trend toward reduced size and increased power output in current engine designs has placed great demands on component materials. Traditional cast irons often cannot meet these demands and designers have been forced to specify expensive forgings in place of castings. To avoid the cost penalty, high strength ADI has been developed for crankshaft applications.
