Abstract

In today’s world, security of data from intruders and hackers during transmission and reception needs image encryption, and to reduce space requirement and faster transmission needs image compression, which tend to be the emerging research arenas. Especially for lossy compression, rebuilding of image equivalent to the transmitted original image is highly unachievable. So far many papers are reported for scalable coding on unencrypted images. We propose a scalable coding for encrypted images by Min-Max Block Truncation Coding Technique(MMBTC). The Min-Max Block Truncation Coding Technique compress the raw image and later encrypted by pseudorandom number, and the encoded bit streams are transmitted. The secret key is encryption key and communicated between encoder and decoder. In the decoding process, the compressed image is recovered with secret key and the raw image is rebuilded by using Min-Max Block Truncation Coding Technique.
