Abstract

Our numerical code S.L.2.M (it is its name) built on the basis of the slip-line method (SLM) was used to simulate different forming processes like fine blanking, ironing, scoring for easy opening, etc. This paper deals with the fine-blanking process of gear-box forks. The quality of the blanking operation depends on whether tearing occurs or not on the sheared edges. The code was validated on this industrial application, taking in account the following parameters: coulomb friction between steel sheets and tools; and material hardening which depends on the blanking depth. The comparison between calculation and experimental results is very satisfying.
