Abstract

The paper deals with the design of test signal sequences for estimating equidistant grid points of non-parametric models of Hammerstein and Wiener types respectively with second order nonlinearity for describing dynamic systems. The sequences are based on optimality criterions securing minimum variances and covariances for the estimated grid points and aiming at best possible agreement between estimated and measured system output at given number of data groups. The paper deals in particular with the formation of suboptimal test sequences on the base of Plackett-Burman designs since they are very effective due to their diagonal structure and to the possibility of simple extension to non-linear problems. The test sequences have been applied sucessfully for identifying processes of man’s heart-circulation behavior, as well as the stimulus transfer behaviour of cockroach Feriplaneta americana.
