Abstract
This paper describes the process of developing an expert system for early prognosis of common diseases and makes suggestions regarding preliminary treatment using Thai traditional herbal medicines. The system consists of four modules according to their therapeutic effects on organs or diseases: organ-protective effect, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, and diabetes. The prospective patients assessed the expert system for its relative advantage, compatibility, and ease of use. Most of the prospective patients agreed that the system provides beneficial information on disease emergence and how to prevent or decrease the severity of common diseases using Thai traditional herbal medicines. This research is one of only a few papers proposing the development of an expert system that will inform users regarding the earliest stages of the disease and advise on treatment suggestions.
