Abstract

The use of a method based on the measurement of macromolecular concentration in the sol phase to determine the gravimetric proportion S 0 of the sol fraction in a polymer results in “apparent” solubility values S. S> S 0 and this difference increases on using a better solvent and with an increase in the ratio of polymer weight m in a polymer-solvent two phase system to volume v. To increase the accuracy of the method, a modification is proposed which provides for extrapolation of S values measured at different m/ v values to m/ v=0.
