Abstract
This paper describes the preliminary study of a novel approach for the on-line analysis of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) emitted from plants by using a newly developed compact and mobile mass spectrometer(SPIMS-1000).In particular,VOCs emitted from branches and leaves of Pinus massoniana L.in different conditions(fresh, baked at high-temperature,seal preserved and mechanically damaged) were measured.Isoprene(m/z 68),monoterpenes(m/z 136),(Z)-3-hexenal(m/z 98) and some other VOCs were efficiently detected in-situ by using the on-line mass spectrometry. The results indicate that SPIMS-1000 has a great potential for the rapid and qualitative analysis on-line,in-situ,of VOCs emitted by plants in outdoor air.
