Abstract

Determination of the causes of the excess of the level of electromagnetic interference (EMI) requires an analysis of faults and electrical failures of the vehicle associated with the level of electromagnetic interference (EMI). This analysis shows that approximately 40–45% of all failures occur due to errors made during design, 20% due to errors in the production process, 30% due to improper operation, 5-10% due to normal wear and aging. This article discusses structural and operational failures due to the presence of experimental data on the occurrence of defects leading to an increase in the ECM level. As a structural failure, an example of an unreliable attachment of an antenna to a vehicle body is considered, and as an operational failure, problems arising from the insufficient capacity of an interference suppression capacitor of the ignition system.
