Abstract

A method has been developed for the separation of TeCBPs in extracts containing planar aromatic compounds. Our results indicate that extreme care should be taken in their separation and determination, since interfering compounds are likely to give overestimations regarding their levels. This method has been used successfully in analysing TeCBPs, TeCANs, TeCDDs and TeCDFs in flyash from municipal incinerators in Japan. The major planar aromatic compounds in flyash seem to be TeCDDs followed by TeCDFs > TeCANs > TeCBPs. We did not find 2367-TCBP in flyash from municipal incinerators.
