Abstract

A study was conducted on the porosity of an “Agot” grade nuclear graphite using the Pierce method applied to the desorption isotherms of nitrogen at a temperature of 77 K. The study was completed by the mercury porosimetry technique. Using the adsorption isotherms of nitrogen and argon at temperatures of 77 and 90 K, the isosteric and integral heats and entropies of adsorption were calculated; these are important for furthering knowledge concerning the surface properties of solids and the solid-gas interaction occurring during the adsorption process.
