Abstract
The electron affinity of the hydroxyl radical has been measured by the magnetron method, and found to be 43.6±2.7 kcal/mole. This supports the value obtained in photodetachment studies. The higher value reported from microwave attenuation studies is ascribed to the use of an incorrect value for the electron collision frequency in flame gases.
