Abstract
Hydride generation-direct current plasma-atomic emission spectrometry has been shown to be a simple and rapid procedure for the determination of arsenic and selenium in environmental samples, offering acceptable accuracy and precision. Simplex optimization of the operating parameters showed typical DCP operating conditions and a hydrochloric acid concentration of 6 mol liter −1 to be optimal. The detection limit for both elements was 4 ng ml −1.
