Abstract
To consider an optimal condition in the arc ion sources, we determined some relations between the most important parameters of the discharge. We expressed the cathodic sheath thickness, the total current and the cathodic tension fall, in terms of the average and maximum charges and the concentration of ions. The experimental points from various works are placed in a satisfying way on the calculated curves.
