Abstract

Background and Aims: Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the most common primary hepatic malignancy accounting for 0.7 million fatalities per year. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a commonest cause of HCC. HCC is diagnosed mostly at an advance stage for which development of test is required for early detection. Detection of somatic driver mutations with increased frequency can be an attractive strategy and the present study was undertaken for this. Earlier studies found that the somatic driver mutation accounts HCC in 56% all cases.
