Abstract
Silicone rubber was widely used in transmission lines as composite insulators or room temperature vulcanizing rubber coatings. It’s a very urgent and useful work to find an on-site method to characterize the micro area composition change which would influence the service performance of silicone rubber. Based on the laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technology and SEM, we studied the element distribution especially the fillers distribution in silicone rubber material. We tested several silicone rubber samples with different silica filler content. With spectrum we found that The intensity of the spectral lines Al (λ=396.1520nm) and Si (λ=251.6112nm) can be used to characterize the content information of Aluminum hydroxide (ATH) and white carbon black filler. A linear relationship between the intensity of the silicon spectrum and the content of silica was observed. The results show that, as a new method of microanalysis, LIBS has the advantages of fast analysis, large area and field application instructions.
