Abstract
A detailed and interdisciplinary explanation of the operation of microphotosynthetic cells ( μ -PSCs) from chemical reactions modeling to energy harvesting is provided in this article. The model includes the effect of photosynthesis and respiration of algae cells as well as the effect of irradiance, day and night cycle, temperature, and pH of the solution. It has an interdisciplinary explanation built on knowledge accumulated from different fields, such as chemical, biological, electrical sciences, and practical results. It covers the theory of the operation of μ -PSCs, the electrochemical model, the equivalent circuit representation of μ -PSCs, and energy harvesting from μ -PSCs. This article provides a simple but thorough insight into a better understanding and improvement of the μ -PSCs technology.
