Abstract

Degradation of the anionic surfactant Sulfonol (sodium alkylbenzenesulfonate) in its aqueous solutions acting as a liquid cathode of atmospheric-pressure dc discharge in air has been studied. The products of plasma-chemical decomposition of Sulfonol in the liquid phase have been identified. The kinetic characteristics of the formation of products of plasma-chemical reactions at a substrate concentration of 5 × 10−3 g/L (0.014 mmol/L) and a discharge current of 40 mA have been determined.
