Abstract

On August 6, 2010, the soul of Desmond Sylvester O'Doherty, MD, completed the longest battle of a life filled with enthusiasm and left this earth “to entertain our Lord in Heaven forever,” as an old Irish proverb declares. Desmond Sylvester O'Doherty, MD, FAAN. Born in the Republic of Ireland on July 27, 1920, he immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island with his mother, Mary Sweeney, and his brother, Sean, on May 2, 1922, becoming a citizen of the United States on April 29, 1930.
