Abstract

In 2002, a public university and private liberal arts school began working collaboratively to create an annual visiting author program. This article outlines specific steps for planning a visiting author program, including how to negotiate appropriate dates and venues, work successfully with an agency, and coordinate effective publicity. In addition, lessons learned along the way are shared. Two appendices include a detailed planning list and an outline for publicizing the event.
