Abstract

In the stacked crossing-type vertical coupler filter, the athermal waveguide cannot eliminate the temperature dependence of the center wavelength. Thus, a temperature-independent stacked vertical coupler filter (VCF) was proposed and designed by adjusting the temperature dependence of equivalent indices of two waveguides. The required measurement accuracy of the temperature coefficient of the refractive index was investigated and a new method was introduced to design the athermal anti-resonant reflecting waveguide (ARROW)-type VCF.
