Abstract

Modern power system is adopting the several changes in the power generation and distributions. One of its example is microgrid/nanogrid. Nanogrid consists of one or more power generator may or may not be renewable energy sources and can operate in standalone or grid connected mode. Nanogrid mainly uses the Diesel generator or Solar PV as the power generator unit. In this paper Solar PV is considered as the source of electric power generation. As the nanogrid is new, its operation, control and protection schemes are not widely developed and hence it needs research and development. The research work aim is to develop model, analysis and design of novel protection scheme for nanogrid. Standalone system is considered for the operation of the small scale industry with lighting and industrial load. The fault is considered in the paper with its isolation and auto reclosing of the circuit breaker. Its simulation is done in MATLAB software.
