Abstract

A kind of space optical remote sensor (SORS) with 7m focal length and a relative aperture 1∶6 was designed. A 4-layer multi- truss was used in the main support structure of the SORS, thus resolving the difficulty of long focal length SORS having high stiffness and thermal dimensional stability. The results of engineering analysis indicated that the surface profile accuracy of the mirrors reach to λ /10 P-V, λ / 50 RMS with the working circumstances ± 4 °C uniform temperature change and space micro-gravity, the base frequency of the structure was 81 Hz. It shows that the designed main support structure has sufficiently high dynamic and static stiffness and thermal dimensional stability. Utilization of the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technique was a key factor in meeting all of the challenging requirements.
