Abstract

This paper provides a method for the design of a high-performance permanent magnet (PM) spindle motor with single-layer concentrated windings. In order to maximize the flux linkage and torque density, a configuration with unequal tooth width is also presented. A comparison of the performance of the double-layer, single-layer, and single-layer with unequal tooth width is made using finite-element analysis. It provides a useful reference to be considered in the motor design
