Abstract

Recently, welfare vehicles are widely used among the elderly and the aged. However, it is not easy for inexperienced to control the vehicle in narrow space such as elevators and narrow corridors. For the problem, we proposed driving assistance system for the welfare vehicle, which is maneuverable by the virtual platoon control technique using Augmented Reality. For the users, they should drive vehicle in a wide space by themselves while receiving assistance as a part of the rehabilitation. If the driver cannot drive well, the autonomous driving should be applied for the vehicle in the tight and the narrow space. In this paper, autonomous driving system for the welfare vehicle is proposed, which is maneuverable by the virtual platoon control technique using Mixed Reality. Finally, the experimental driving is demonstrated using a welfare vehicle STAVi.
