Abstract

This paper researches a kind of dual-polarized antenna array which is used in the field of passive guidance radar. In order to receive the incident signal with polarization information of the radar, the dual-polarized antenna scheme based on dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) and printed monopole is designed. The DRA and printed monopole are taken as the vertical polarization port and horizontal polarization port, respectively. A dual-polarized antenna array with four elements is mounted on a metal ground plane and the dual-polarized patterns are formed. The center frequency of the designed antenna is 3.5GHz. The frequency range is 3.35GHz ~ 3.56 GHz. The gains of the two polarization ports are about 7dB and 5.8dB, respectively at the center frequency, the polarization port isolation is greater than 25dB, the isolation between two elements is greater than about 19dB, the axial ratio (AR) of DRA port is greater than 39dB, and the AR of monopole port is greater than 18dB. Within the angle range of ±30°, it meets the requirements of beam coverage. Due to the electromagnetic coupling between the elements, the radiation patterns of the two polarization ports have a certain jitter, and the error correction should be carried out. The designed dual polarization antenna array is composed of asymmetric polarization ports. The designed antenna has a simple structure, and it can provide a certain technical reference for practical engineering.
