Abstract
We propose a design of a center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) based on Fresnel lens. The Fresnel lens is divided into four layers. The first layer collimates the beam of Light Emitting Diode (LED) along the direction perpendicular to optical axis; The second layer makes the output light uniformly distributed; The third layer collimates the beam along the optical axis direction; The fourth layer scatters the collimating light to make the last light distribution meet the relevant regulations. The simulation and test results show that the efficient of this CHMSL is 38.3 % and the uniformity is about 92.4 %. This CHMSL is practical and can applicable to vehicle lighting.
