Abstract

The authors present a systematic procedure of synthesizing a two-dimensional antenna array which has the pattern nulls at the incident angle of jammers. The one-dimensional Tseng window is extended to two dimensions, maintaining the circular symmetry. The method of interpolation has been used to define the values of the spectral window on arbitrary frequency points. The data window of the circularly symmetric two-dimensional Tseng window, which can be obtained by computing the two-dimensional inverse fast Fourier transform of the spectral window, is applied to the computation of the gain of each antenna element to generate pattern nulls. The two-dimensional array with the proper pattern nulls is used for the spectral analysis of an AM signal which is incident at an arbitrary angle in the presence of strong jammers of different incident angles. The excellent capability for detecting, resolving, and accurately measuring the magnitude of AM signal components of the array synthesized with the circularly symmetric Tseng window is demonstrated by several numerical examples. >
