Abstract

AbstractIn recent years, communication equipment performance and reliability have become dominated by software factors. The architecture of the software, as well as the hardware, has a substantial impact on the software performance and, thus, the equipment performance. This paper focuses on the software and hardware architectures of a time division multiple access (TDMA) terminal and a digital speech interpolation (DSI) unit, which have been specifically designed to optimize software performance. This equipment is designed to operate in the INTELSAT and EUTELSAT TDMA networks.
