Abstract

Analog control techniques have been used for a long time to control the dc-dc converter due to their directness and ease of realization. Albeit, over the last few years digital control techniques have seen a monumental rise due to their adaptability, reduced cost, size and reliability. The intent of this paper is to design and analyze the performance of a FPGA based digital fractional PID controller implemented using Hardware Description Language(VHDL). The efficacy of the code is assessed by using the designed digital controller on a dc-dc converter using System Generator.
