Abstract

In this paper a novel multi-port bidirectional converter is presented which is applicable in wind and solar power EV charging stations. In order to have an appropriate operation with wide range of PV panel, wind turbine, and energy storage unit (ESU) voltages, it is designed in a way to be able to increase and decrease voltage in both directions. Storing PV panel energy in ESU, charging connected EV with ESU, charging EV with ESU and energy wind turbine, simultaneously, and storing surplus stored energy of EV in ESU are the operating modes of proposed converter. Bilinear model of this proposed converter is extracted and a cascade linear controller is designed with using the linearized model of it for output voltage stabilization. Operation principle of the proposed converter is analyzed in all operating modes and it is simulated in MATLAB software with its closed loop controller, and results are analyzed in order to validate system analysis.
