Abstract
Synthesis of 4,4 �,5,5 �-tetrabromo-2,2 �-dinitrodiphenylmethane and 5,5 �-dibromo-2,2 �- dinitrodiphenylmethane from 4,4 �-diamino-5,5 �-dibromo-2,2 �-dinitrodiphenylmethane are reported. 4,4 �,5,5 �-Tetrabromo-2,2 �-dinitrodiphenylmethane (TBNDPM) have been synthesized by a simple and convenient method employing Sandmeyer's reaction of 4,4 �-diamino-5,5 �-dibromo-2,2 �- dinitrodiphenylmethane (ABNDPM) with cuprous bromide and hydrobromic acid and 5,5 �-dibromo- 2,2 �-dinitrodiphenylmethane (BNDPM) has obtained by treatment of ABNDPM with hypophosphorous acid and cuprous oxide.
