Abstract

In this paper an analysis is presented of the grain growth kinetics in AISI 316L austenitic steel. Investigations included an analysis of the distributions of grain chord lengths. Changes in the time exponent n in the equation of grain growth D = Kt n were analysed as a function of temperature. Grain growth was divided into normal and abnormal growth, and values of the coefficient n for both types of growth were determined. The investigations showed that the dependence of n on temperature stems from overlapping effects of normal and abnormal grain growth.
