Abstract
The larvae of all instars and pupa of Basiprionota angusta (Spaeth, 1914), a member of the tribe Basiprionotini Hincks, 1952, are described in detail for the first time. Immatures are figured and described using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Chaetotaxy of all larval instars is presented and discussed. Comparative diagnoses are given of first and last instar larvae of both Basiprionota angusta and Craspedonta leayana (Latreille, 1807). Immatures of Basiprionora angusta are compared with all known immatures of Basiprionota species. Phylogenetic relationships based on immature characters within the tribe Basiprionotini are discussed and additional biological information is presented. (© 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
