Abstract

Learning Arabic that designed properly will achieve the expected goals. A good Arabic learning design is characterized by choosing an approach, method, strategy, material, and media that suits the student's condition. The communicative approach in learning Arabic is applied to improve skills in Arabic, such as Istima> ', kala>m, qiro>'ah and kita>bah. In this study contains about the application of a communicative approach in improving the ability of Qiro>'ah. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The results of this research indicate that, in principle, the communicative approach is to improve the mastery of speaking proficiency. This is in line with the main purpose of language, namely as a means of communication. However, after being seen from another point of view, a communicative approach can also be applied in mastery of reading proficiency. An example is the application of the sorogan method. Santri are required to play an active role in this learning, and the cleric is only as a companion in learning. If there are errors in reading Arabic script, or do not know the word order. Santri can directly ask the ustadz. Form of communication. The existence of active communication between students and teacher is able to improve the ability students to increase their ability to read books/kitab.
