Abstract

Chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA) is a distressing consequence of chemotherapy, with up to 14% of patients at risk of rejecting curative cancer therapies because of the fear of hair loss.1 Although the senior authors (J.S. and K.L.) regularly care for patients with CIA upon completion of their cancer treatment, they rarely have the opportunity to counsel patients before chemotherapy induction. This is in contrast to dermatologists’ frequent involvement in preventing other dermatologic toxicities of anticancer therapies.
