Abstract

Sodium-fluorescein was injected intravenously in human beings, and the concentration of fluorescein in the anterior chamber of normal eyes was measured and compared with the blood concentration of the ultrafiltrable part of fluorescein. When the concentration in the anterior chamber is highest it is about one tenth of the blood concentration of the diffusible fluorescein at the same time. Therefore the aqueous humour cannot be formed by ultrafiltration. By means of a mathematical analysis it is possible to evaluate the output of the human aqueous humour per minute from our measurements. It is 2 mm3 per minute.
