Abstract

Process control and related problems of reproducibility and stability have always been, and still are, the decisive factors determining the quality and economic production of optical thin film products, especially when they are produced in large numbers. The basic control loops and influencing factors are discussed with emphasis placed on process parameters and monitoring systems. In the second part, the problem of automating an optical deposition process is analysed.
