Abstract
Introduction: Luton and Dunstable Hospital is a regional hub for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, providing a 24 hour on call service. The out of hours service is covered by Dental Core Trainees (DCTs). There is current debate as to whether DCTs should be covering out of hours acute maxillofacial trauma and inpatient activity, with a threat to remove this entire service altogether.
