Abstract

Background: dental and oral health problems have increased significantly every year. This is evidenced by the prevalence of dental caries in 2013 of 25.9% and in 2018 of 57.8%. The high level of dental health problems is influenced by several factors, one of which is bad behavior towards the maintenance of dental and oral health, especially the lack of knowledge about the importance of dental and oral care. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between dental and oral health knowledge and the DMF-T index for employees of Marketing Operation Regional III Pertamina Central Jakarta in 2021. Research method: This type of research was retrospective analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted on all Marketing Operation Regional III employees who did Medical Check Up from January to June 2021. The sampling technique used was total sampling with a total sample of 91 people. The independent variable is knowledge of dental health while the dependent variable is the DMF-T index. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire to measure knowledge and a DMF-T examination sheet to measure the DMF-T index. Data analysis using Spearman test. Result: the knowledge of Marketing Operation Regional III Pertamina Central Jakarta employees is mostly sufficient category as many as 68 people (74.7%) and has an average DMF-T Index of 4.1 with a high category of 69 people (75.8%). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge of oral health and the DMF-T index in Marketing Operation Regional III Pertamina Central Jakarta employees with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: there is a relationship between knowledge of dental and oral health and the DMF-T index in Marketing Operation Regional III Pertamina Central Jakarta employees in 2021.
