Abstract
The assumption of the existence of pion condensation leads to the presence of oscillations in the density distribution of nuclear matter. The energy levels of pionic atoms are calculated by using an optical potential which takes into account these density oscillations. In this sense, the electromagnetic interaction plays an insignificant role; however, the energy shift due to the strong interaction depends mainly upon the parameters which we have introduced for the oscillations.
