Abstract

Written by an anomalistic psychologist, this chapter examines claims related to demonic possession in both the Christian and Muslim faiths. The chapter focuses on possession as an explanation for some conditions including epilepsy, Tourette's disorder, and schizophrenia. It includes a section on pop culture and public perception. The chapter concludes by attempting to understand beliefs.
