Abstract

The concept of compassion within health care is perhaps best articulated by the National Nursing Research Unit (NNRU) (2008: 7) which asserts that ′patients want to be treated well, to have quality care every time and want nurses to make them feel safe and comfortable−physically and mentally, ′cared about′ as well as ′cared for′ ′.
