Abstract

Neutron rich Be isotopes are studied with the Skyrme Hartree·Fock method, where single particle wave functions are discretized on a three·dimensional rectangular mesh. The total binding energies are reproduced reasonably well with the Skyrme Sill force. Strongly deformed solutions are obtained in the low excitations for 11 Be~ 13 8e around the N = 8 neutron closed shell. Recently, with the rapid developments of experimental techniques of secondary unstable nuclear beams, it has become possible to produce and investigate unstable nuclei far from the /3 stability line. A number of new properties not seen in stable nuclei have been found in nuclei around the neutron drip line, such as the neutron halo structure 0 and the strong El strength at low excitations which is interpreted as the soft dipole mode. 2 > Among light neutron rich nuclei, Be isotopes are especially interesting for several
