Abstract

The deformation behaviour of polycrystalline hexagonal metals (zirconium and zinc) has been investigated as a function of temperature and strain rate. The analysis of the stress strain curves has shown, that the work-hardening occurs in two or more stages. A strong temperature dependence of deformation stresses has been found. The stress and temperature dependence of activation volume has been found. The thermally activation analysis has shown that the nonbasal slip should be taken into account as the rate-controlling mechanism of plastic deformation in hexagonal polycrystals. Polycrystals deformation, Zn, Zr, activation volume, work hardening.
