Abstract

The paper presents the statistical characteristics of deformation defects on the surface of steel St 20 laboratory specimens obtained under alternating loading. Digital images of the deformed surface layer are used to analyze dynamics of deformation defects accumulation. The structure of deformation defects is represented by a change in characteristics of their distribution on a surface. Discrete deformations of a sample surface layer characterize dynamics of microplastic deformation accumulation during diffuse fracture. The authors suggested a methodological approach to determine the state of damage to a structural material in the range of elastic deformations by deformation defects parameters of a laboratory specimen surface.
