Abstract

The divergence angle is defined as a plane or solid angle between curvature radii of the wave front, within which a given fraction of the laser beam energy or power is propagated. Methods by which the divergence angle and the curvature of the wave front can be measured simultaneously are discussed. The performance of a device when the divergence angle is measured is examined.
