Abstract

Comparative experimental data on the defect structure and physico-mechanical properties peculiar to the two types of SmS single crystals grown under similar conditions are presented. A conclusion founded on those data is drawn that the observed distinction in the properties of various types of crystals is primarily connected with the difference between their defect substructure and, as a consequence, in their carrier concentration.
