Abstract

Summary The River Hull Tidal Surge Barrier is located at the confluence of the rivers Hull and Humber to exclude surge tides from the river Hull and any consequent flooding from the city of Hull. This paper discusses changes to the design concept for the foundations of the Barrier necessitated by the geotechnical investigation data. Other features of the Barrier project have been described elsewhere ( Fleming et al 1980 ).
