Abstract

In this paper, the problem of decomposing a nearly singular control system (SCS) will be addressed. It is shown that a singular or nearly singular system can be decomposed into two interconnected subsystems in lieu of singular value decomposition (SVD). An approach for achieving model reduction based upon the decomposed subsystems is derived and then compared with the two-time-scale separation. The theory presented will be illustrated by computer simulation results of a power control system.
