Abstract

Grid integration of renewable energy through micro grid is latest in the research now for efficient and more reliable operation of distribution power system. Microgrid is required to operate in both grid connected mode and in islanded mode through proper diagnosis of the system conditions. Often transient conditions are handled by reserve capacities of distributed generation sources (DGs) and storage systems, which is dependent on the sharing of power by the varieties of connected DGs. The paper presents a Master-Slave method for load sharing without any communication link in between the DGs and the loads. Master DG is operated in indirect current control while in grid connected mode and is operated with PWM switching mode to present a voltage source in islanded mode. Slave DGs are always operated in indirect current control mode. Simulated results under MATLAB environment are present to validate the effectiveness of the control scheme.
